12 years ago. 18 years old. Joined a gym that had a court. Never played much indoors up until this point so I just went through the balls they had to find which one I would like best. The ball I found had a deep brown color to it so I didn't know what brand ball it was. But it was the best ball of all time. I make so many of my shots with it. Dribbles great. Handles great. Have to lick my fingers for some tackiness and grip though, but no big deal. Actually liked it that way. I move away. I go back 12 years later. Ball is still there. STILL in good shape and GREAT to play with. I later find out that it is this ball. Well, I move away again. I seriously entertain the notion of stealing the ball for myself I love it this much. But I don't. I bought a new one on here. At first I was concerned about break in and stuff because after all, I had played with a well worn ball. And others expressed the need for this as well. I got it in the mail and it was a tad shiny like some coating was on it. A little nervous about it. I got some leather lotion to polish it and clean it. Did that a few times before I got to the gym. And I have to be honest. After shooting with this freaking AWESOME ball, I think I may like it just as much if not more than the one at old gym. Absolutely fantastic. I love to shoot and this ball seriously works for me. I love the way it feels on my hands, the sound it makes with that swish, the dribble, everything. I do know though and always noticed only a few played with the ball at old gym so I don't believe it is for everyone. But I can say I am very happy myself, all I want to do is shoot around for hours on in. THANK YOU Spalding!

My son who is 15 yrs old and I (his mom) put this together in about 5 hours spread out over a few days. I found the directions to be confusing. The most difficult part was putting the backboard components together. We followed the directions but it could have been clearer. I took a walk around my neighborhood and studyed the ones my neighbors had to get an idea. Once it was finished my son really enjoyed it and he likes to slam dunk so it has to be solid for that. Great product good price. Also I have to say we received it in a week.

The neverflat is really a plastic pin pushed in where you would fill air - similar to plastic pins used in abdominal balls

Packaging states that it will not need air for 1yr.

My 8 year old son loved this for XMAS and it has a great WOW factor when you open the box. Its one of his two favorite presents. He wanted me to assemble it for him right then, but I ran into two problems. I didn't have a needle on hand to inflate the ball (poor planning on my part), which is a realistic smaller sized ball that comes deflated. The bolts that are included are about a 1/4 inch too short to be able attach the hoop to the rim. The way it works is that the backboard plexiglass piece is sandwiched in between an orange metal plate that the hoop is attached to, and an another small orange metal plate that is on the back of the board. This back plate has some very rigid foam compression padding glued to it. Three machine screws are inserted through three holes through these three pieces, and then nuts are screwed onto the bolts. The problem is that I was unable to get a purchase on the bolts since they were about 1/4 an inch too short, and the only way to make them reach was to compress the foam, which I tried but couldn't do. Basically this thing is sitting unassembled until I make a trip to Home Depot to find some longer bolts. I'm knocking off one star for that. I was surprised by how well the hoop seemed to be made - its heavy duty with a real net and large spring. The problem is that I don't expect the backboard to stand much of a chance with the rim attached to this - the rim is identical in style and weight to a real rim, just smaller. The backboard, however, is a much thinner than expected piece of plexiglass. It is exactly 3/32 of an inch (this is less than 1/8 of an inch, 3/4 of 1/8 to be exact.) I'll knock of another star for that. I plan to prevent this likely breakage by attaching the hoop directly to the wall (or to thicker/larger board behind the backboard). With some longer longer bolts and doing something like from the start, the backboard doesn't need to support the rim at all. That would work really I think, and in that case the backboard would work OK. I really want this to work, but didn't expect to have to be creative.

Finally after 3 cheap BB hoops this one takes the cake! I wish I would have bought this more expensive one to begin with. From the nerf bb hoop that broke after an 1 hour to the plastic rim that broke after a week, this is awesome quality. Its been 3 weeks and still going strong, for a kid who plays hard and dunks. I didn't expect this to perform like a more expensive glass backboard, but it performs fine for my kids. The assembly was simple, although the part to install the backboard and hoop requires two people. After filling the base with water (you can also use sand), I can easily tilt the pole forward to move it around given that I'm only 5'6" and weighs 150 pounds.

I set the height of the hoop at the lowest setting of 7.5 feet, and it can be set at 6-inch increments up to 10 feet. The backboad is sturdy although it needs a better backboard support system. Since this is a portable system, the backboard is not as stable as a permanent one and the backboard does not provide as good of a bounce to the ball. I think the backboard will be more stable if I fill the base with sand instead of water.

For $100, I'm happy with the purchase. It's durable and serves the purpose for me and my kids.

We bought this for our six year old. It is perfect. The set up was certainly a two man-job. But, my wife and I were able to do it. My son loves it. Like the other reviews - it is impossible to pour sand into it. Also, I'd recommend that you adjust the height of the rim prior to set up. The directions don't tell you to do this.

But, for the money - you can't beat it.
